Short CV:

Dr. Dimitrios Vasiliou is professor of Bank Management at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He graduated in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and earned both an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK). He was professor of Bank Management at the Hellenic Open University for 12 years. Before joining the Hellenic Open University, he taught for over 20 years at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He was the Director of the Master of Science (MSc) in Banking, the Director of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) program at the Hellenic Open University, as well as the Director of the Master of Science (MSc) in Banking, Accounting and Finance at the Hellenic Open University and the Nicosia University (joint degree). He has served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Hellenic Open University. Professor Vasiliou possesses an extensive professional and teaching experience. He has been Deputy Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and Consultant – Advisor to various funds, champers, organizations and firms [e.g. Hellenic Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, Civil Servants Supplementary Insurance Fund (T.E.A.D.Y.), Athens Professional Chamber, General Secretariat of National Statistical Service of Greece, Ethniki Insurance Group, Ktimatologio S.A. etc.]. Professor Vasiliou authors five books on Corporate Finance and Portfolio Management related areas published by the Hellenic Open University. In addition, he coauthored (with Nikolaos Eriotis) the textbooks “Financial Management: Theory and Practice”, “Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management”, and “Principles of Financial Accounting”, as well as the textbook  “Advanced Financial Accounting” (coauthored with Nikolaos Eriotis and Dimitrios Balios), all published by Rosili. Professor Vasiliou has taught as a Visiting Professor at Charles University of Prague (Universitas Carolina Pragensis), the National Technical University of Athens, the Institute of Banking Executives at the Ionian Bank, the Technological Educational Institution of Athens, the Technological Educational Institution of Piraeus, and he has served as a Senior Economist in the Department of Economic Research of the Ionian Bank. He has lectured extensively at a postgraduate and undergraduate level on Portfolio Management, Money and Capital Markets, Business Finance, and Special Topics in Business Finance. Moreover, he has taught in numerous executive educational programs organized by various organizations and banks (e.g. Alpha Bank, Ionian Bank, Emporiki Bank, Hellenic Railways, Hellenic Export Promotion Organization, Hellenic Court of Audit, Alfa – Beta Vassilopoulos S.A., Daniel E. & Co. Graphic Arts S.A., etc.). As the author of more than 80 articles, monographs, and papers, his work has appeared in numerous publications. His current research interests are focused in the areas of corporate finance, portfolio investments, and bank management.
