Scope
The aim of the course is to present the concept of development economics through applied examples and calculations. Examples are presented concerning the growth and development of the Greek economy. At the same time, the analysis and the conclusions of specific research works that have been carried out in relation to the above issues and carry out approaches at an international level are presented.
Content
This course describes the main components of economic development, growth and quality of life, growth conditions after joining the Economic Adjustment Program and the effectiveness of its interventions and the medium-long-term perspective in the Greek economy. In addition, the strong influence of trust, knowledge, cultural background, characteristics of transactions and economic institutions in shaping economic growth and entrepreneurship, as evidenced by research work, is generally described (internationally).
Curriculum
The growth before the crisis in the Greek economy. The question mark of development. The Greek economy after the crisis. The effectiveness of Financial Adjustment interventions. The medium-long-term perspective in the Greek economy. A sectoral proposal for growth dynamics. Climate change, population aging, tourism, culture. Trust and knowledge in the development of small and medium enterprises. Cultural background, characteristics of transactions and financial institutions in shaping entrepreneurship. Cultural background, characteristics of transactions and economic institutions in shaping economic growth.
